The Absurdity of It All
Perhaps I missed it previously, but I learned something from reading the latest AP wire report about the budget woes in New Jersey.
Roberts has been leading opposition to the sales tax increase and continued to reject the compromise late Monday. He wants a sales tax increase reserved for property tax reform talks to be held later this year and opposes using it to fund general state spending.
What?
The budget holdup is to increase every other tax so the sales tax can be raised later this summer?
Sigh . . .
Property tax relief does not come when you raise the sales tax. It is extremely obvious to me that these folks have no idea what they are doing.
At this point, I hope the government shutdown lasts a while so people can see the absurdity of these positions.
