Along the Maurice River

This is one of my favorite views in Millville. I have explored this building on numerous occasions. It is quite interesting inside. I suspect I’ll never have the ability to check it out again given the development along the Maurice River.

The old railroad area has been cleared for an adult condominium complex. Today I noticed a view ~~(I’ll have to get a photograph of it)~~ that really hurts Millville. Stand on the corner of 49 & Ware across from the park entrance. Now look down the Maurice River at the Brandriff bridge. The clearing behind the bridge is where the condos will be. That view, once a classic shot in Millville is now gone as the trees that should back the bridge are missing. A picturesque view is now quite an ironic view with a beautiful winding river, concrete, then nothing. Eventually this view will give way to the river, concrete, and a towering old folks complex.

On the positive side, on the edge of the 3rd Ward there will now be a ratable where there was once just woods. All these old folks I am sure will be season ticket holders at the theatre.
