“Last Fair Deal in the Country”
Funk is over.
After cooking two turkeys Wednesday night for 36 people I did not know, I am at it again this evening. A pork butt is in the smoker, a big batch of my chili is simmering on the stove, and I am getting ready to marinate the chicken for Roadside Chicken. I’ll be lucky if there is any left for me.
Nah, there’ll be a little left, I am sure. Fritz and I have to come home to actually cook the chicken for the ladies. Then we’ll head out again. We’ll grab a couple thighs as we walk out the door. Fritz is so excited. He likes going out with Daddy. “Woods” he says over and over.
Interestingly, as I slaved away this evening Gert cooked too. She was so proud. She came in an announced her Facebook Cafe is doing well.
She doesn’t understand that virtual cooking is not equivalent to the real stuff. Tsk tsk . . .
Of course, the preparation is enhanced with Silver providing a few awesome Dead shows. I already listened to 1970-11-16 Fillmore East and am in the middle of the Capitol Theatre show from 1977-04-27. Good stuff. It certainly lifts the spirits.
