I have stacks of CDs of photos I have taken over the years. I needed to organize them. I figured I had a few thousand photographs. I began tagging them, uploading, organizing, etc.
Eighteen months later I am not done. I’ve made lots of progress. I’ve been able to create some home movies (I have been organizing the digital video too). I recently passed 56,000 photographs in my Flickr account. Yikes! There’s still plenty more.
I had set a 30 June deadline to finish, but I haven’t. Part of the problem is that I have multiple copies of directories, etc. They aren’t necessarily identical. It’s tedious at this point, but I am a completest. I will finish.
Also I have the book problem. Way too many books. Again I am entering them into my GoodReads account. It’s important to tag everything. I am a school teacher and I use a lot of this to be able to pull the correct book for specific lessons. But we will be unloading lots of these too. Rather than get involved with half.com or the like I am going to release them via BookCrossing.
I tired of the photos and the books were going slowly when I discovered another big organizing project. I have discovered that organizing is fun for me. Anyhow, I discovered our 600+ music CDs. They had been put away neatly, but they weren’t being used. Since then we have entered the iPod generation.
Well, with external hard drives so cheap, I purchased one and spent about a week ripping the music. Things are tagged and sitting on our home network. The physical music CDs are now better organized and once again put away neatly. The payoff is that we now have access to these 6500+ songs without really adding clutter. Wife would like us to offload the CDs now, but I like to do things legally so am keeping them.
So at least something has been accomplished.

I’ve been coughing for days now. Apparently allergies have gotten me. They say after this cold winter of ours lots of folks are being affected. My throat is raw. Stopped off and picked up a water ice. The cold feels good . . . One cannot process photographs after 10:00 in Millville . . . Despite whatever one may feel about BP, Barton was correct originally: Obama did shake them down for $20 billion . . . I don’t think I am a Foursquare kind of guy. Too much like logging geocaches for me . . . Found a wild Where’s George bill in my change today. It’s been a while since one has crossed my path . . . Happiness is listening to your daughter act out Peter and the Wolf by humming each instrument . . . A close second is having the irrigation system working properly again. The lawn thanks us . . . Just ordered an Xshot . . . Stunning commentary from The Sarge: “The Minnesota Twins are a team that does not give up. They hustle throughout the game.” Name a team that does . . . Enjoying the World Cup thus far . . .

Today has been weird . . . of late many things have been.
‘Twas supposed to be a big day out. Like all big days in recent memory (it seems), it was squelched. Thus I hung around home. It was a funky day.
I noticed what I think many know about me; I’m thin-skinned. At least as far as online communications are concerned. I think I knew this all along. Today I self-monitored myself. Always working on improving.
Spent a good part of the day on the data organization project. Ughh! This is the never ending project. I made big strides today. Today I delved into what I knew was there: multiple copies of unorganized photographs. 2002, 2003, and particularly 2005 were copied over and over through the years. Much of it is duplicated, but every now and then there are source files to be found, etc. To top it off, most of these photographs were taken with a camcorder or an older digital camera. Neither contains exif data, so I am constantly looking up dates, geocaches I completed eight years ago, etc. It’s monotonous work. There’s plenty left to do, but I feel like I moved ahead today. The tally is over 51,000 photographs right now. Yikes!
Apparently it is the 141st day of the year. I don’t think I’ve missed a day on my 365 day project.
It was a late night dinner. We are a weird family. There’s four of us. We dine on four separate meals at each mealtime. It’s odd. No one will eat anyone else’s food. I lost the battle on this years ago. Anyhow, I grilled a chicken breast, a pepper, and an onion. I chopped up the vegetables along with some garlic and EVOO. I then sprinkled some cumin and oregano in.
After a few minutes, I add some apple cider vinegar and about 10 ounces of diced tomatoes and some diced chilies. I reduced the heat and allowed the flavors to get to know each other. I then added in a can of black beans.
Back out to the grill I went to warm the tortillas. Once done, I spread a dollop of sour cream on the tortilla, added the vegetable mixture, and topped with a few slices of the chicken breast. Ah, good food. The others earlier had food from a box.
While there’s still plenty of time left in the school year, I think I am hitting the wall. NJ ASK took the starch out of me. I have things to complete that I am dreading. No biggy, but it’s just pushing papers. I loathe menial tasks.
Between now and July, I think every day has commitments. It’s time to step up . . .

Every time I think I may return to logging geocaches online again, I am reminded why that isn’t a good idea . . . Speaking of geocaching, the Star~Ledger had a nice article highlighting the game with Ericles . . . Funny partisan political sign . . . FWIW, I haven’t visited Google Buzz in some time. Guess what? I don’t need such a service in my life. Go figure! . . . I’ve just reached agreement with an author in Australia to have some of my photographs published this coming November. The guy is writing his second barbecue book and requested to use several of my food photos. Wow! . . . Not that I need convincing, but Bob Dylan is a master songwriter. When I Paint My Masterpiece and It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue are just phenomenal! . . . Some Apple employee leaves his iPhone 4 prototype in a bar, and Gizmodo is to blame? I see this being tossed out with prejudice . . .

A perfectly sunny and warm Monday. What a way to begin the week! I took the morning off to have my ear examined. Fortunately, no surgery at this point. Yeah! I spent the balance of the morning running errands.

My day began here . . .

This machine keeps me hearing. My otolaryngologist used it to suck the embedded wax out of my ear. Nice, eh?

I was in Verizon today to pick up something. I spoke with the Verizon wireless guy who let me know Verizon offers 15% off the bill for teachers. Who knew?

Gasoline is on the rise . . . about $.10 in the last week or so. BJ’s had it for less, but I had cash for the purchase.

The Levoy will be renovated soon (although we have heard that for more than a year). Meanwhile, bricks have fallen from the structure.
I checked up on my OPRA request today at city hall. I learned the engineering department has a wonderful view of the Maurice River.

Foglio’s put in our hardwood floors a few years ago. Since then, they pulled their business from town. We are ready for the next step in the project. Unfortunately, Millville will see no benefit from the work.

Beetle’s Daisy workbook. She had her group meeting today. It was forgotten, so I dropped it off.

Another example of the recession. N.Y. Chicken took the taxpayers’ handout and then closed up shop. Meanwhile, the new plaza cannot find tenants.

The Boy Scout statue at the regional offices.

It’s school board election time. That means the landscape is inundated with signs.

My day ended here . . .
