Observant readers will note a new link above in the eCache network: Live. Go ahead, click it.
In my neverending search for a service that catalogues music like Shelfari does for books, I decided to tackle what I can’t find. last.fm does a decent job of cataloguing the songs I listen to. But it is incomplete. Most of the music I listen to is live, namely complete concerts. last.fm picks up the songs just fine, but it will list the original (most of the time) album the songs were recorded on. For the bands I listen to, that is lacking.
Most of the Grateful Dead’s concerts are available to listen to, and that I do. I want to be able to list the concerts I have listened to. No service I have found will chronicle the album, not just the songs. If you know of one, please let me know. Until then, I’ll keep track myself.

Through various versions of this site I have had discussion boards. I have had a love/hate with them and ultimately removed them.
I participate on numerous boards daily and read even more. I have noticed a niche that I think can be filled here; namely, a place for locals to discuss the community. Reading posts at The Daily Journal makes one cringe. Magazzu Watch is similarly insipid.
So, the task here is to not only grow a community, but to keep it from devolving. We shall see how successful this attempt is.
Anyhow, stop by and join the fun. There is now a Fora link in the menu above. Registration here at eCache is good for the fora too. Soon I expect to have Open ID integration, so you don’t even have to register here to participate.
Discussion doesn’t occur with only one person posting. I have the blog to do that; I need you to discuss.

I guess today will be known as the official public re-launch of eCache. While the cache has technically been public all along, things have been a mess here. I’ve been tidying up, although there is more to do (a new theme is being tested). Anyhow, today I told a couple folks about the new domain name, so I guess that means things will be back to normal soon enough. Ha!
Am really working on organizing the photographs. There are now more than 5000 shots up on the new flickr account. I suspect I will surpass my guesstimate of 9000 once this is all over.
Anyhow, welcome back folks.

Well, rdowens.net is finally up and running. Unfortunately, I am not ready for prime time. I upgraded WordPress the other day to 2.6.5. That was a mistake. That upgrade has rendered the sidebar useless on my custom pages. I even reverted to 2.6.3. No dice. I am currently thinking there is a legacy of 2.6.5 in the database. Sigh . . . I’ve been at this all night.

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve had a new computer. With the half day for the Thanksgiving holiday, it was a perfect day to tinker. I like tinkering.
There’s a great deal that needs to be transferred to this system. I am going in stages. Right now I am moving a bulk of data that I have been using the last month and a half. That has been a mess, but is all contained in one directory on some web space I have. Ultimately, my lesson plans will benefit from the new system as I will have a home for them now. Thankfully.
While all that transfers, I am futzing with the blog. I have wanted a new theme for it but haven’t been enamored with what I loaded. I found a spectacular theme, but it will require a photograph with each post. After I mulled it over, I did not want to be locked into that.
I kept searching. Currently I am working with another BOB theme. I think this is going to be a keeper. It is clean, which is an overriding desire. There’s a little color to it, which I think will be nice.
It takes a long time to tweak a theme to one’s liking. I’ve expanded the tabber box so I can have more of the blog’s features housed there. That frees up the navigation bar for other links.
Of course, there’s an update to WordPress I’ll need to install too.
Good stuff and it’s fun.
