Just took a look at the Groundspeak fora. It’s good that consistency prevails. The cesspool discussion area thrives. A namecalling thread egged on by Mr. O’Connell makes elementary school look mature in comparison . . . It seems that despite property taxes rising more than 9% in Chicago this year, the Obama’s house will only see a rise of 1% in property taxes . . . The nearest unfound shutterspot to me is 177km. After this week, I hope the nearest one will be 322km . . . the latest New Jersey gubernatorial poll has Christie up 47-41 over Corzine. While that is good, I hope that does not provide comfort for those who want to vote their conscience for Daggett at the expense of Christie. I am not a diehard Christie fan, but it is important to remove Corzine from office . . . Alas, it does not look good for my Phillies. The bats have been too quiet. I’ll give the Yankees credit for that. Our pitching has not been spectacular either, but the bats are the main concern . . . FWIW, my children put such a smile on my face! I love you two . . .

The last week and a half of work has taken its toll. Students are dropping to the flu. I have held strong, but I am weary. At the end of Monday, it felt like Friday. I can see the end. Despite having a little to do, I have been able to enjoy this Wednesday evening.
And why not? The world champion Philadelphia Phillies opened this year’s World Series with a dominating win over the Yankees. Chase Utley clocked two homers and Cliff Lee pitched a brilliant complete game. All the while I smoked a brisket.
The other day I pulled out some hamburger from the freezer. We are working on eating down our stash of food. Yesterday I began prepping the burgers for the grill. When I opened the package, I quickly realized I didn’t have hamburger. It was not immediately known what cut of meat I had. There was a second package that did have the hamburger, so dinner was fine. I kept thinking about what this other piece of meat was and then it dawned on me what it was (yes, I should have marked it). I cooked a brisket about a month ago. trying something different, I cut the point off the brisket and saved it. This is the point. The point is what burnt ends are made from.
So while the Phillies were taking care of the Yankees, the WSM smoked the brisket. I pulled it, cut it, added the No. 5 sauce, and placed back onto the smoker. I should have some brisket candy sometime after midnight. Hump day should not drag one down.
Go Phightins!

Congratulations to the Yankees. They were able to finally dispose of the Angels. Now, let’s settle this thing once and for all. I can’t wait for Wednesday evening.
Let’s go Phillies!

I received my NJEA calendar yesterday. We’re back to the “old ways” in that it is more than a month and a half late. My dues were spent to print September and three weeks of October, yet I was unable to ever use that part of the calendar. Another big fail for this union . . . I happened upon two “vandalized” political signs this morning. I had read about the MagA$$zu signs. I suspect no one will ever be caught. It reeks of Democrats doing this to their own signs for publicity, but who knows? Interestingly, both signs I saw were only stickered on one side. Both seemed to be on “Democratic” land . . . More interesting I thought was the sign one sees entering the local I.B.E.W. headquarters. So much for being politically-correct . . . So much is going on that it doesn’t look like we’ll get to the pumpkin farm before Halloween. Sigh . . . In that vein, October is almost over . . . While I have wanted an iPhone, the prospects of a monthly $160 bill cured me of that desire. I can eat a lot of prime rib for that kind of tab . . . Yes, I am happy that my Phillies are back in the World Series . . . Illnesses aplenty are floating around school. It occurred to me that I am just about a year without any ear issues. Thankfully. Of course, I was death warmed over during the month of February . . . Feeling ho-hum about Windows 7 . . . Bull Moose’s explanation of his “ahem” medical procedure had me in stitches . . . Interesting how local businessmen ignore requests for business. I gather they are so flush with money they don’t need my business. Yet, they expect my tax dollars to fund their projects. Sheesh . . . I’ve had a couple very good customer service experiences of late. Most recent, Joby sent another GorillaPod given the problems I have had with my tripod . . . Clayton nails the problem with using an alias during a discussion. Tune into at 12:15 on today’s podcast . . .
