This is one of the iconic scavenger hunts. I recall a caching buddy of mine talking about the original one years ago while we were out on the hunt. I’ve always wanted to log the shark mailbox I have oodles of photographs of, but I can never find them. I have come across a few oddball boxes, but none ever seem to strike my fancy.

Today we were out on the prowl and drove by this one. I thought it was cute. It is mounted atop a jackhammer. I haven’t seen that before.

Thanks for the fun.

This drive-in was closed for many years, but a few years ago it re-opened. If I am not mistaken, this is the only drive-in currently operating in New Jersey. It hearkens back to a time long ago. I have fond memories of drive-ins.

New Jersey is replete with weird attractions.

I’ve logged this before for another scavenger hunt.

My stroll along the promenade had produced two perspiring family members. We waited until the hottest day of the year to head out and tackle all these hunts.

By the time we got here, we were dragging. I contemplated taking the little one in, but think she’s still too young to appreciate it.

Beetle knew there was something wrong, however. She kept looking at the facade. She didn’t know how to explain it, but she knew it wasn’t supposed to be falling off. She was perplexed.

Lucy the Elephant is on the National Register. It is the only surviving elephant of the three that used to be. One other was on Coney Island and the third was in South Cape May, which is now under the Atlantic.

Lucy was used as a real estate ploy. Developers built this huge elephant that one could see for miles. Prospective buyers would climb up to survey the land.

Lucy is located in Margate, NJ, just south of Atlantic City.

Ah, yes. Bubba is a friend of mine. The martini glass out front is a landmark at Bubba’s. Even Weird NJ picked up on that. This was once part of the famed Cumberland County Tour, which is still a work in progress three years later.
